What Are Mosa Cream Chargers?

A Mosa charger is a small steel canister filled with nitrous oxide gas. You screw it into a cream whipper and let the gas out. The gas mixes into the cream and turns it into a light, fluffy foam in seconds.

You can also use these chargers for more than cream. With a whipper, you can make foams, mousses, and infuse flavour into drinks, oils and syrups quickly.

Nitrous oxide has no taste or colour. It's a food-safe gas known as additive E942, so it won't change the flavour of your cream.

How to Use Mosa Cream Chargers

1. Fill your whipper. Pour cold whipping cream in, up to the max line. Add sugar or flavouring now if you like.
2. Close the lid. Screw the head on tightly so no air can get in or out.
3. Add the charger. Put a Mosa charger in the holder and screw it onto the whipper until you hear a hiss.
4. Shake it. Shake the whipper firmly a few times to mix the gas through the cream.
5. Dispense. Turn the whipper upside down, press the lever, and pipe out your cream or foam.
6. Store or recycle. Keep any spare cream in the whipper in the fridge, upright. Take out the empty charger and recycle it.

How Many Chargers Do I Need?

One 8g charger will whip about 0.5 litres of cream. So if your whipper holds 0.5 litres, you'll need one charger. For a 1 litre whipper, use two.

One charger can turn 0.5 litres of liquid cream into up to 1.5 litres of whipped cream. That's more than you'd get from whisking by hand, and it holds its shape for longer than cream from a can.

Which Cream Should I Use?

Use whipping cream, not single or double cream. Single cream is too thin and won't hold air. Double cream is often too thick and can block the whipper. Whipping cream also has a bit of stabiliser in it, which helps your piped cream keep its shape for longer.

Are Mosa cream chargers legal in the UK?

Yes. Nitrous oxide became a Class C drug in the UK on 8 November 2023. But the law allows it for proper uses, including cooking and catering. It's still legal to buy and use Mosa chargers to whip cream. It is only illegal to have or supply nitrous oxide for inhaling to get high.

Is there an age limit?

Yes. You must be 18 or over to buy cream chargers. We may ask for ID, and we can refuse or cancel an order if we think it's being bought for the wrong reason.

What's the difference between N2O and CO2 chargers?

N2O chargers are for whipping cream and making foams. CO2 cartridges are for carbonating water and other drinks. They do different jobs, so don't mix them up — always use the right gas for your dispenser.

How do I get rid of used chargers?

Empty Mosa chargers are steel, so you can recycle them with tins and cans. Just make sure they're fully empty first.

Will Mosa chargers fit my whipper?
